This ice chest is perfect for those backyard parties when the typical plastic ice chest just will not do. Most wine casks are at least 1-inch thick Oak wood, which creates great insulation against heat thus preventing the ice from melting. I have converted a retired wine barrel into an ice chest by securing all the bands that keep the cask in place with thick fatheaded masonry nails to give it that blacksmith look. After the lid is cut out I hand-make the hinges, stain the barrel and do some minor fabrication to the metal stand as well as installing heavy duty locking casters (which are included) for easy mobility. Once your party is over, simply drain the barrel by unplugging the bung from the bottom of the barrel.

Although the barrel has been treated with a stain and polyurethane mixture, it is recommended that you keep this item out of the rain and sun for an extended period of time. Due to the natural contraction/expansion of wood, the barrel is not watertight and may leak slightly once the ice starts to melt.

Although most items will have a distinct red wine stain, some products may have
more or less intensity. Additionally, markings and or brands will differ from product to
product due to the age of the cask, procurement and date it was retired from use.
No two products will be the same due to the differences between wine casks.
That is what makes my products so unique!

Slight separation between staves, due to natural wood dehydration, may occur over time
